Today’s best pound-for-pound boxer Manny Pacquiao will set foot on the ring to try and defeat the legendary Oscar Dela Hoya in a 12-round slugfest in Las Vegas, Nevada. Live streaming is available to Pay-per-view sites.
I’m very excited about this match since I’m a fan of both fighters and having the two great boxers step on the same ring is almost surreal. As the title of the fight goes, “The Dream Match”. It’s like every boxing fan’s dream come true. Heck, I’m sure even Pacquiao dreams of it.
Video of the Pacquiao and Dela Hoya match will surely be available online and on pirated DVDs and VCDs come later this afternoon. In the last Pacquiao match (with Diaz), poor DVD copies were already circulating in Raon, Quiapo, Greenhills and other parts of the Metro come afternoon. I wonder how fast the video pirates are this time. I’d be lauging my ass off if the PNP declares a 0% crime-rate today as they did in Pacquiao’s previous fights. Video piracy is a crime, yes?
Youtube, Metacafe and Google Video are also expected to be filled with the Pacquiao - Dela Hoya fight come later this day. Bloggers would blog about it. News networks would talk about it for days, especially here where Pacquiao is regarded as some national sports hero.
I hope to get my own copy of the match. I sure hope these guys give us the fight we all want to see. No running around. Just pure boxing. Aggression and speed versus strength and size. A TKO would make my day. And it doesn’t really matter who wins. This fight is already history-in-the-making. But if we’re talking about taking sides, of course I’m for Pacquiao.
Go Pinoy.
