Watch the Twilight Movie

The Twilight the move will be officially showing in the big screens tomorrow, November 25 here in the Philippines. Thousands of Twilight fans are expected to fill the theatres to watch the much awaited Twilight movie. Starring Robert Pattinson (Harry Potter, The Summer House) as the mysterious vampire Edward Cullens and Kristen Stewart (Panic Room, Jumper) as the lovely Bella Swan. It is expected to hit (and top) box office charts similar to the successful Harry Potter series and Spider Man series. I just hope the numbers will prove the speculations are right.

Twilight is about a teenage girl and a vampire who falls in love with each other and risk everything. They find out there is more to their differences than just their kind. Below is an excerpt of the film Twilight:

In a marketing perspective, the marketing guys handling Twilight did very well in building up the movie’s popularity. All sorts of tangible and intangible paraphernalia like shirts, wallpapers, notebooks, mugs, etc. They knew that the book already had a good following. They just need to use that advantage to push the movie much like how it was done in the Harry Potter series. Like the HP series, the populartiy of the Twilight movie is not only limited to the fans of the book itself but also to those who are simply curious and would like to know what the hell everybody is raving about. 

Vampire movies always have this appeal to movie goers. But most often than not, they are portrayed as antagonists and much of their “side” are least explained to the viewers. Twilight attempts to break that notion by showing the “human” side of vampires: their emotions, their fears and conflicts. Apparently, they also have issues as any humans would have issues. They also attend school and subject themselves to the stress of Trigonometry and Calculus while juggling it with Physics and Chemistry. They also know how to fall in love as shown in the movie - hence the main plot of the whole series. 

Also, I think the appeal is more than the vampire element. It’s the idea of forbidden love that makes it so interesting and captivating that the audience is kept to their seats full of questions. We all want Edward and Bella to end up happily ever after. But questions like how and when and under what circumstance, etc. will bug us until the whole series is over. 

I look forward to watching the movie sometime soon.

In the meantime, I need to attend to my bloodthirst.
