The Christmas season of 2007 spewed a slew of awesome TV commercials by giants from the local food industry. One of the most notable TV commercials I remember was Chowking’s Pasko Na commercial where a father and son would meet for the first time on Christmas Day. There’s also this Jollibee TVC where a lonely toll booth attendant (who was working on Christmas Day) was brought some dinner by his family. I know this may be cheesy and all but I do find these TVCs very heart warming. I actually missed my dad the first time I got to watch the former. Below is the video of the Chowking Christmas ad of 2007.
Genius.
I wonder if this year’s set of TVCs would match or surpass last year’s. I’m hoping they come up with even better TVCs. It seems the best formula is to get a good storyline that involves food + good opm song + good acting = 100% WIN.
Hmm… Come to think about it, most of the good TVCs are food ads. Mcdonald’s “Karen and Lolo” series, Dunkin Donuts’ pasalubong series, Selecta’s slew of Sharon Cuneta ads, etc. The consistent element is easy to indentify - family. Which probably IS the defining factor for success.
I can’t wait until they launch the first set of Christmas TV ads. They should be coming out anytime soon.
Told you so. Genius eh?
